At the Humane Society of Macomb, we stand for a no-kill shelter that strives to care for every cat that we come across.
Thanks to our dedicated staff and the help we receive from animal lovers like you, we’re able to help cats like Stormy find “furever” homes.
When Stormy was brought into our shelter, we learned that she had been stepped on by a German Shepherd.
We decided to give Stormy an X-ray to see whether she had any fractures or broken bones from being stepped on.
Sure enough, the dog stepped on Stormy hard enough to cause her leg to suffer a clean break.
You may think that treating a cat’s broken bone is as simple as wrapping the injured site and making sure the cat rests.
This is not always the case.
Proper care must be given to cats to not only avoid causing them further pain, but to also prevent infections and damage to nearby organs.
Depending on a cat’s situation, he or she may need fluids, antibiotics, and pain meds to treat their injury.
After examining Stormy further for any other ailments and issues, our staff immediately transferred her to emergency to treat her broken leg.
Once treated, we kept Stormy in our clinic where she was able to make a full recovery.
We’re pleased to say that Stormy was adopted into her furever home on October 27, 2018.
