National Pet Month gives us one more reason to love our pets even more and to make sure they get the recognition they deserve. This month is all about pets, why we love them, how to celebrate them, and the wonderful steps we can take together to help all animals.
If you’re just as excited about National Pet Month as we are, here are five ways you can celebrate this month-long pet holiday:
Volunteer with Us
We can’t think of a better way for you to celebrate National Pet Month than by taking some time to volunteer with us!
Volunteers serve a vital role in helping the animals here at the Humane Society of Macomb.
On average we help over 1,800 dogs and cats each year and without our dedicated volunteers, we would be unable to provide the next level of enrichment these animals need and deserve.
As a volunteer, you will provide exercise and enrichment for the animals that are needed for their health and well-being. This also assists in the process of them finding their forever homes! To learn more about volunteering, visit our website here.
Try a New Activity
There’s always room to try something new, right?
Look into an activity that you and your pet can do together. You may find something that you both enjoy that you’ve never tried before.
A new activity may also be the cure for boredom and helping to keep your pet active.
Try not to think too hard about a new activity. You’ll be surprised how much your pet may take interest in an activity that you didn’t think they’d go for.
For example, cats really love boxes! You can simply put together an obstacle course with boxes for your cat. Watch how excited your pet will be for something so simple!
Have a Photoshoot
Say cheese!
If you’re feeling photogenic, you can have a photoshoot with your pet.
Grab your phone or even schedule an appointment with a professional photographer to have pictures taken of you and your pet.
A photoshoot is also a great way of creating memories with your pet.
Focus on Pet Responsibility
Take this month as an opportunity to focus on responsible pet ownership.
Pets are counting on their owners! Show them how much you care by ensuring you’re maintaining the steps it takes to be a responsible pet owner.
Try to keep up with vet appointments, regular grooming, and overall pet care for your furry friend. And don’t forget about their vaccinations! They need those too.
Spa Day
Have a spa day with your pet. If you’re able to do so, you can give your pet a nice warm bath, a simple nail trimming, and maybe even take a few minutes to pet them.
A spa day can be very relaxing and much needed for your pet. Don’t forget to give yourself a spa day too!
The ideas are endless for what you can do to celebrate National Pet Month.
No matter what you choose to do, just remember to make sure your pet knows you care! We hope you’ll enjoy your pet this month as much as we are!
