Building a Compassionate Community

At the Humane Society of Macomb, we believe that our community is the key to controlling the pet population and helping those who cannot speak for themselves.

Trap Neuter Release (TNR) Program

Help Control Community Cat Populations

Feeding outdoor cats? See stray cats? Be the one to stop another generation from being homeless – Get them fixed!

We work with All About Animals and offer TNR Vouchers. We can also help you to learn:

  • Best practices in caring for community cats
  • Humane trapping techniques for sterilization
  • Winter sheltering tips
  • Colony management strategies

TNR Vouchers Available

Through our foundation we offer a limited number of certificates each year to those who help with local community cat populations for TNR.

For more information about TNR and vouchers: Contact the shelter at 586-731-9210

Understanding When to Call Whom

A big piece of our animal community is animal control. We work closely with the Macomb County Animal Control and want to share information about when you should call them versus the Humane Society of Macomb.

When to Call Animal Control:

You should call animal control when you:

  • Suspect mistreatment of a pet
  • Come across an injured animal in need of veterinary care
  • Need assistance with animal welfare enforcement

Wildlife Issues:

If you have a nuisance wildlife issue, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has a directory to help guide you on who to call for wildlife conflicts:

Macomb County Animal Control:

Macomb County Animal Control is a great organization and you can find more information about them on their website:
