Every Step Helps a Shelter Pet
Whether you sprint like a greyhound or stroll like a basset hound, the 5K for K9s is your chance to hit the pavement for a PAW-some cause. Run, walk, skip, or saunter your way through beautiful Lake St. Clair Metropark — and bring your four-legged running buddy along for the ride. (Dogs are welcome but not required!) This is a timed event with a big heart. Serious runners can line up at the front, and walkers start from the back. No matter your pace, every step you take raises funds for the animals at the Humane Society of Macomb who are waiting for their FURever homes.
What Every Participant Gets
- A participation medal for every finisher — yes, your dog gets one too!
- A branded “doggie bag” (drawstring shoe bag) stuffed with sponsor swag
- Official race timing for every participant
- Water and refreshments provided on-site
Awards Ceremony
After the race, join us back at the pavilion for the awards ceremony! Medals are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the following categories:
Over 40 Division
Top 3 Male & Top 3 Female
Under 40 Division
Top 3 Male & Top 3 Female
Top Dog Division
Top 3 K9 Finishers!

Registration is $30 and every dollar goes directly to the animals in our care. Grab your sneakers (and maybe a leash) — we’ll see you at the starting line!
