Support Animals in Need
Adopting a Pet
If you are looking to adopt a new furever friend, we encourage you to check out the animals available here at the Humane Society of Macomb. If you are interested in adopting, we ask that you fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire and we will be in touch to schedule a follow up appointment. To learn more or to view adoptable animals, be sure to visit our Adoptions page.
Support Those Who Can't Speak for Themselves
Your generosity is a lifeline for countless animals in need. Each donation, big or small, fuels our mission to provide exceptional care and loving homes for our furry friends. In just a month, our medical expenses can exceed $20,000, covering vital treatments and surgeries. Imagine the impact of your gift: just $20 can feed a kitten for a day, $45 affords crucial health testing, and $105 supports a spay or neuter surgery. Let’s unite and keep tails wagging and hearts warm.
What We Do
Our Services
Finding Pets a Home
Our priority is those who cannot speak for themselves. We are proud to be a community resource helping adoptable animals find their furever homes.
Humane Education
Humane education promotes empathy, problem solving skills and more. We believe that education is important for our community.
Spay and Neuter
We all need to do our part to control the pet population. We love animals and want you and your neighbors to get your pets spayed or neutered.
Rehoming
It is always hard when situations change and a pet must leave their family. We work with families to keep their pets with them, but when it is not an option, we work hard to find new homes for those animals.
Our Mission
Our goal is to help those who cannot speak for themselves while providing humane care for unwanted, abused, and injured animals. We work to prevent cruelty to animals all while placing adoptable pets into good, permanent homes with responsible owners. We make every effort to return stray animals turned into the shelter to their original owners, while educating and promoting spay and neutering, to prevent overpopulation through education.

Adopting a Pet
What do you need to adopt?
One of the questions we receive most often is what do I need to adopt? It’s a fairly simple process once you find the animal you want to add to your family. We do work hard to pair animals with the right home for each situation and will request that you complete a pre-adoption questionnaire. You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt and have a government issued photo ID with proof of address, a copy of your lease (if you rent), and vaccination records for any current pets in the home.
